Harry Brierley was the older brother of Fred and was also born in Shaw - in Harry's case,1909.
He married Marion Mellor in 1932 at the family church of Holy Trinity in Shaw.At some point in the 1930's the couple moved to Morecambe and together they had a son Dennis, born in 1939.
After war broke out,Harry like his brother Fred found himself in the Far East with the Royal Artillery.
He was killed at the Battle of Kohima, an at times savage fight inside the border of India between the British and invading Japanese from Burma. It doesn't appear that Harry ever lived in Royton but it would seem his family wanted his name to be alongside that of brother Fred.
